As a group we collaborate with Skills Venture a UK consultancy that provides business volunteering assignments in Africa on the premise that skilled professionals in developed countries, in particular business people, could have a genuine impact on poverty in developing countries by providing appropriate and targeted mentoring support to individuals in those countries.
Most people agree that business growth is the best way to beat poverty sustainably. But in countries like Kenya, many small businesses fail because entrepreneurs lack key business skills. This unique combination of mentoring and consultancy places the emphasis on working together. It's more about developing ideas than imposing complex solutions. This allows for real progress to be made within short timeframes. Assignments are tailored to individual skills and can last for days, weeks or months.
